Disaster Management
& Climate Change Affairs

Afghanistan remains highly vulnerable to natural disasters and the growing impacts of climate change, including floods, droughts, earthquakes, landslides, and extreme weather events. Our Disaster Management and Climate Change Affairs thematic area focuses on reducing disaster risks, strengthening community resilience, and promoting climate-adaptive development to safeguard lives, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure. Through integrated risk reduction, preparedness, and environmental sustainability initiatives, we aim to enhance the capacity of communities and institutions to anticipate, withstand, and recover from disasters effectively.

Disaster Risk Reduction

We implement disaster risk reduction initiatives to minimize the impact of natural hazards on vulnerable communities. Our activities include hazard and vulnerability assessments, community preparedness planning, early warning systems, and risk awareness campaigns.

Emergency Preparedness and Response

We strengthen community and institutional capacity for disaster preparedness and response through contingency planning, emergency drills, pre-positioning of relief supplies, and rapid response mechanisms.

Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience

We support climate-resilient livelihoods, water resource management, and community adaptation strategies to address the impacts of climate variability and environmental degradation.
