Agriculture remains a primary source of income and sustenance for many communities in Afghanistan. Our Agriculture, Food Security, and Livelihoods thematic area focuses on strengthening rural livelihoods, improving food security, and enhancing resilience to economic and climate-related shocks. Through sustainable agricultural practices, market-oriented approaches, and community-based interventions, we aim to support vulnerable households—particularly women, smallholder farmers, and marginalized groups—in achieving long-term economic stability and self-reliance.
We strengthen agricultural value chains by supporting post-harvest management, storage facilities, producer groups, and market linkages to increase income opportunities for farmers and small enterprises.

We support income-generating activities, vocational training, and small enterprise development to diversify household livelihoods and reduce dependency on a single income source.
We provide farmers with improved seeds, tools, and climate-smart agricultural training to increase productivity and promote sustainable farming practices, including soil conservation and water-efficient irrigation techniques.
We support livestock owners through veterinary services, vaccination campaigns, feed distribution, and training in animal husbandry to improve animal health, productivity, and household income.
We implement food distribution, conditional and unconditional cash transfers, and food voucher programs to support vulnerable households facing food insecurity and crisis situations.
